    The Story Of Petiscope

Told by Nathalie Lemoine

Who am I?

The Birth of Petiscope

A little over a year ago, in April 2023, I had the idea to create Petiscope. As a teacher in a primary school in Lille and the mother of two children, Louane, 10, and Augustin, 6, I have always looked for ways to make learning fun and engaging. In the classroom, I favor active learning, and when the weather allows, I often organize outdoor activities. One day, during a lesson on the composition of trees and leaves, I noticed that my students found it abstract and difficult to understand.

The idea behind Petiscope

To solve this problem, I discussed with other teachers and parents, and that's how the idea for Petiscope was born in June 2023. This miniature, easy-to-use, portable microscope allows children to closely examine elements of nature. Seeing the details of leaves and insects with their own eyes made learning much more tangible and engaging for them.

Testing and Feedback

We spent the summer of 2023 testing the Petiscope with my students and my own children to ensure that it truly met their needs. The feedback was incredibly positive: the children were more engaged, more curious, and, most importantly, more active in their learning. Their enthusiasm confirmed to me that I was on the right track.

A Growing Project

Today, in March 2024, Petiscope is an integral part of my lessons, and many parents have also adopted it at home. My goal remains the same: to make learning fun and accessible for all children. I am happy to contribute to sparking curiosity and interest in nature and science among younger children, while being part of your special moments. From January 1st to 7th, 2024, we are organizing a Pop-up Store in Lille to showcase Petiscope and the new accessories available. It will also be an opportunity to exchange ideas with you. We will send all the details via email.
